EPA to Host Webinar on the Basics of School Integrated Pest Management – October 21
A webinar, The Basics of School Integrated Pest Management, hosted by the EPA’s Center of Expertise for School IPM, will be held on October 21, from 2:00 – 3:30 p.m. Eastern time. IPM is a smart, sensible, and sustainable approach to managing pests. IPM takes action to address the underlying causes that enable pests to thrive. The webinar participants are:
- Tim Stock, IPM Specialist with Oregon State University, will describe school IPM, its importance, and its implementation.
- Mark Hardin, IPM Specialist for the Howard County (Maryland) Public School System, will discuss pest monitoring, pest exclusion, and the sanitation and maintenance of waste and recycling areas.
- Marc Lame, Clinical Professor at Indiana University, will provide information on pest management challenges in school kitchens and cafeterias.
- Marcia Anderson, EPA Center of Expertise for School IPM, will lead participants through a virtual school walkthrough to identify pest vulnerable areas.
A moderated question and answer session will conclude the event. This webinar is one in a series of EPA presentations to help school districts adopt a proactive approach to pest control by offering information on Integrated Pest Management. The presentations are geared specifically to the school community - facility managers, buildings and grounds managers and staff, nurses, administrators, IPM coordinators.
